Achieving Eagle is a long and arduous task. Scouting is no doubt one of the greatest organizations in the world to foster the ideals of citizenship. It is little wonder then that so many of our nation’s greatest leaders had some of their earliest leadership experiences in scouting. The total development from boyhood to manhood depends on physical, mental and moral growth expressed in the Scout Oath and Law.
The Eagle Award is the highest honor awarded to a scout due to their efforts towards his fellow Troop members and his leaders. A scout must earn 21 Merit Badges in various crafts and skills. Eleven of these badges are specifically required by the Boy Scouts of America. An Eagle Candidate must hold offices of Leadership within the Troop.
Each Eagle Candidate also must plan and supervise an Eagle Service Project. An Eagle Candidate must demonstrate a Scout’s abilities and willingness to exert his leadership in activities that are constructive and worthwhile in the community. Since the recharter of Troop 227, we have produced 33 Eagle Scouts since 2003.
